The Uncut Journal is a critical review of ecclesiastical life and events—events which touch and have ramifications upon the eternal pillars of the faith and the faithful themselves.
It has been said that the essential difference between Orthodox Christianity and the religions is the discernment of spirits which the Church alone possesses (1 Cor. 12:10). In every age, ours not excluded, the Church brings forth her fruit, those who are set apart, ascetics illumined and deified, who judge the world (1 Cor. 6:2) and are judged by no man (1 Cor. 2:15). The things of the Holy Spirit are taught to the saints (Heb. 5:14), who discern and unravel the spirit of the world because they have the mind of Christ (1 Cor. 2:16). To these holy ones every Orthodox Christian is obliged to turn for answers to the questions of the day and of eternity.
As a service, then, to the faithful, but also as an alternative way - beyond books and monographs - of bringing the life and witness of these Holy Ones to bear on our interpretation and understanding of current events, the Uncut Journal will be updated weekly with submissions from UMP editors, contributors and co-workers - always based upon or drawing inspiration from the lives and writings of those set apart by God, of this and every age.
Unabridged. Uncompromising. Uncut Orthodoxy.
